By far the most popular of the Science Fiction miniature rulesets is Warhammer 40,000, or Warhammer 40k. Published by Games Workshop, it currently is in the fourth edition.
Warhammer 40K is essentially a fantasy world transported to the far future. There are space orks and space elves (and in older editions, space dwarves).
