MiniatureWargaming.Com Recovers (Finally) From Hack

After two weeks of work, MiniatureWargaming.Com is back and fully functional! (I hope)
The initial problem began with a hacker’s attack two weeks ago. Fortunately, I had a recent mysql database backup, and the site was initially back up in less than 24 hours.
Then the webhost decided to move me to a larger, and presumably more secure server. But they began having issues with their mysql setup, and the new server kept crashing. After days of working with them, I finally gave up, got a new (and predictably more expensive) web host and started transferring files from my full site backup to the new host.
Add in another day for software upgrades on the main site, and on the forums and it’s now been eleven days since the initial outage.
The new host servers should be much faster than the old, and better able to handle the site’s ever-growing traffic.
A lesson for webmasters: backup, backup, backup. The only reason I was able to recover the site with no loss of content is that I had those backups in hand.
Thanks to my many readers who alerted me to the initial problem, and to further errors that have occurred along the way. And thanks also to the many thousands who make regular visits to the site.
