Alpha Destructicus is a racing game of futuristic destruction derby with tanks, trucks, dinosaurs, ramps, and machine guns.
When I was growing up, I played Car Wars incessantly. It was my favorite game for a long time. Later, I became a serious Warhammer 40k enthusiast. It was when I was running a short demonstration of Warhammer 40k for some other gaming friends that I decided to combine the elements I liked best from both games into a game of my own. Alpha Destructicus was the result.
Alpha Destructicus is a fast, frenetic game of vehicle racing and combat with lots of explosions and spectacular pileups.
Space Infantry is a free solitaire science fiction game:
Space Infantry (SI) is a solitaire game of squad-level combat in the future. In Space Infantry you control a team of 8/10 soldiers on a series of missions that can be played individually or as a campaign. Each mission takes about 20 minutes to be completed.
SI is a modular game; the overall structure of SI will make possible to easily add new features to the game (missions, enemies, equipment): this means that in the future additional components will add new options to the existing missions, increasing the lifetime of SI.
Tacship is a set of free wargames rules for space combat by John Tuffley. He writes:
Tacship is a simplified fast-play rules system for simulating combat between manned space fighters. The game may be played on a hex grid map or on a plain table area by substituting inches for hexes and measuring turns in 60 degree increments (the same as a one hexside facing change). Fighter models should be mounted on stands, preferably with a one inch hex base, if a grid is being used.
I’m celebrating the new year by releasing another free set of rules from the vault. This is an earlier design of mine—a quick, easy miniatures game for use with the MicroMachines Z-Bots, or any other toy robots you might have.
I was always a big fan of Comedy Central’s “Battlebots,” and fondly remembered “Rivets,” the old Fighting Robots boardgame from Metagaming. A decade ago, when I came across a bunch of Z-bots for sale, I decided to come up with a short set of rules for them that captured the fun mayhem of cute robots destroying each other.
RulerBall is a set of free wargames rules for playing games based on that 1970s movie featuring James Cann with a similar name. The game’s from J.P. Trostle, creator of the excellent commercially available Speed Rally game.
Alien Assault is a free computer game for Windows that for all intents and purposes is a clone of the old Space Hulk computer game. The game description:

Miniature Wargaming is part of the "adventure games" hobby, which includes r ole p laying and board games. Wargamers recreate battles on the tabletop with toy soldiers, like a more complicated game of chess. Models range in height from 6mm to 28mm tall, with 15mm and 25mm being the most popular. There also is a growing interest in toy soldiers and military models, such as the 1/32 and 1/35 scale plastic soldiers from Conte, and Marx.
The most popular miniature wargames are fantasy and science fiction based, such as Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, Warmachine and The Lord of the Rings. World War II games such as Flames of War and Axis and Allies are new favorites. Other favorite historical periods include Napoleonics, the American Civil War, and ancients, such as Romans or Greeks. Other gamers enjoy miniature naval wargames, recreating battles like Trafalgar, Jutland and the Coral Sea.
Hobbyists research historical periods and paint their tiny soldiers in accurate uniforms. Others develop "historically realistic" rules sets or build scale battlefield terrain using model railroad techniques.

Some of the bigger hobby companies are Games Workshop, which produces Warhammer, Wargames Foundry and Old Glory Miniatures. Wizards of the Coast produces several lines of pre-painted miniatures games, such as the Star Wars and Dungeons and Dragons miniatures games, and a historical game with pre-painted miniatures: The new Axis and Allies game. Wizkids produces a fantasy collectable miniatures game, such as the Mage Knight and Heroclick fantasy games, the science fiction games MechWarrior and Rocketmen, as well as the quasi-historical Pirates of the Spanish Main.
