Here’s an interesting concept: Truetype and Type1 Fonts that are sets of wargaming and roleplaying figures instead of letters. Because they are, like all fonts, scalable, you can print them at whatever size you prefer.
Among the font sets are superheroes, pulp adventures, space opera, Ironclaw roleplaying figures, treasure, scenery and starships.

Acies is a very nice looking two player card game designed to simulate conflict between ancient armies. it looks like it would be a fun thing to play on off-nights when your regular miniatures games end early. All the parts you need are there to download and print out.

The Cthulhu Skirmish game from Warpspawn is designed to be played on a chessboard with miniatures. Each figure represents one man or monster. I also think that it would be easily adaptable to playing as a more traditional miniatures game.

One of the most terrifying scenes in The Lord of the Rings is the passage through the dead marshes. Here are some instructions for building your own marshes. This swamplike terrain would be useful not only for Games Workshops Lord fo the Rings game, but for any number of horror based miniatures games.

Combat Action is a very complete universal wargames system by Fabio Fontana. He writes:
Combat Action is a strategy game of small scale conflicts. It can be used to represent skirmishes with a dozen models per side up to larger conflicts with multiple squads, vehicles and support weapons. The system presented within this book comprises two levels of detail, a simple system for small scale games where each model on the battlefield is a separate unit, and a more complex layer which adds optional rules to govern targeting, simulate chain of command and allow larger engagement of forces.
The point system will allow you to design any creature, vehicle or model you like, and field any model you create on the battlefield.
The site also has playscreens, scenarios and a complete world background.

Miniature Wargaming is part of the "adventure games" hobby, which includes r ole p laying and board games. Wargamers recreate battles on the tabletop with toy soldiers, like a more complicated game of chess. Models range in height from 6mm to 28mm tall, with 15mm and 25mm being the most popular. There also is a growing interest in toy soldiers and military models, such as the 1/32 and 1/35 scale plastic soldiers from Conte, and Marx.
The most popular miniature wargames are fantasy and science fiction based, such as Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, Warmachine and The Lord of the Rings. World War II games such as Flames of War and Axis and Allies are new favorites. Other favorite historical periods include Napoleonics, the American Civil War, and ancients, such as Romans or Greeks. Other gamers enjoy miniature naval wargames, recreating battles like Trafalgar, Jutland and the Coral Sea.
Hobbyists research historical periods and paint their tiny soldiers in accurate uniforms. Others develop "historically realistic" rules sets or build scale battlefield terrain using model railroad techniques.

Some of the bigger hobby companies are Games Workshop, which produces Warhammer, Wargames Foundry and Old Glory Miniatures. Wizards of the Coast produces several lines of pre-painted miniatures games, such as the Star Wars and Dungeons and Dragons miniatures games, and a historical game with pre-painted miniatures: The new Axis and Allies game. Wizkids produces a fantasy collectable miniatures game, such as the Mage Knight and Heroclick fantasy games, the science fiction games MechWarrior and Rocketmen, as well as the quasi-historical Pirates of the Spanish Main.
