I also play Red Orchestra and Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin including in some of the CM:BB campaigns, but that is beginning to pall as I have my own ideas about teamwork and that isn’t very popular these days. Theatre of War is coming out from Battlefront shortly and that might be fun.
YEAH! I love the Combat Mission games! Red Orchestra is THE BEST computer WW2 first person shooter EVER. The most realistic for sure. Theatre of War looks sweet! PC games, not exactly true miniature wargaming, but similiar (Oh comon, we all play them)
I live in Pittsburgh, PA. i wargame with some homemade rules with 25-28mm WWII. im sorta new at this even though i have 150-200 figures and 150-225 tanks and vehicles…
Pudsey, Yorkshire, England. 20mm WWII currently with rules based on NUTS! (two hour wargames) and PBI (rfcm). ACW using Civil War Battles (rfcm, only just released, I’m very impressed) or Fire & Fury. Ancients in 25 or 15mm utilising Conquerors and Kings (rfcm).
I like sets of rules that set up a scenario as this prevents equal points bashathons and also relieves anyone from having to set up situations all the time. All rfcm (rules for the common man) sets do this by having a pre-battle section of the game, NUTS! from two hour wargames does it by having a campaign system.
Mmmmmm. I’m now based in Crowborough, East Sussex, and game with whatever rules strike my fancy (mainly whatever I’ve just gotten in to review). My personal collection consists of 25/28mm figures and vehicles from the Normans to WW2, with a few odds and ends of other periods thrown in. If I get invites, I’ll play other rules and scales, but refuse to purchase kit in anything but 28mm.
On PC I play Sniper Elite, Day of Defeat (Jochen Peiper’s better@dying) and CFS1, although I’m about to install CFS3 now.
I live in Falkirk Scotland
I play Rapid Fire WW2 rules in 20mm and 10mm,Napoleonic in 15mm using General de Brigade, GQ naval rules for WW1 and WW2, 25mm Boxer Rebellion and starting Spanish American war ,6mm WW2 and Korea air-combat and many modern skirmish games in 20mm
I have a distinct bent towards 20th Century conflicts… I game;
1918 World War One
1919 Freikorps
World War Two (Early and Late European, Eastern, African & Far East)
Indo-Pak War 1965 & 1971
Vietnam War
Indonesian Confrontation
Iran-Iraq War
Gulf War One
Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan
Coalition Forces in Afghanistan
Ogaden War
Cold War 1980’s
Twilight2000
American Civil War
Sci-Fi ‘Pulp’ Future Wars
Fantasy
Hi Vince what rules do you use for the Freikorps 1919 game.I ask this because some of the member of the club i belong to in Falkirk have started getting figures for this period
I’ll try most anything. The club does a lot of Flames of War at the moment and Im on that bandwagon, though Im eyeing up BKC and Crossfire for future play as well. Naval side General Quarters most recently, and Victory at Sea for those not so much into the naval gaming. Im looking for a decent Ancient Galleys Ruleset so I have an excuse to buy Eric Hotz’s printable models. Oh and Command and Colors - especially now I have expansion 3 and the ability to involve a number of players. WWI air is filled with Wings of War.
My GW tastes extend to a skaven army for WFB since so many people play it, they get a run out and I have neough painted that I never have to paint more - but I prefer the specialist games particularly Epic - and Bloodbowl (well, the carnage is close enough to count as a wargame).
Spacewise - Full Thrust and A Call to Arms - One of the club players is adapting FT to VSF style adding altitude and formation rules to give a bit of fun.
Most recent purchases - On the way at the moment is Two Hour Wargames FNG and FNG: UW, and Im enjoying VBAM Games’ Mercenary Air Squadron (though more of a boardgame than miniatures).
Im a gamer not a painter, I hate the painting sidethrough lack of patience time and skill - I dab enough colour onto my models, and put enough of a paint scheme together, so that they look acceptable at a gaming distance. I paint for a week to get as much out as possible and then dribble away at the rest. I then spend my time being envious at the painting ability of others, promise I’ll learn to do more and still end up drybrushing my infantry one colour and maybe paint their hats.
