"WHERE’S RAQUEL WELCH WHEN YOU NEED HER?”
Still feeling in the mood for some off-beat action I recently played my solo ‘Fantastic Voyage’ scenario (from the ‘Hollywood’ posting on this site). In fact I played the scenario four times, back to back.
On the first two playings the sub escaped despite being crippled by the marauding white blood cells. The third game saw the sub escape unscathed. On the fourth playing I made some slight adjustments in favour of the white blood cells and, at last, they managed to destroy the sub before it left the board (although it required EIGHT correct guesses in the combat sequence in one go to win!)
The adjustment I made in game 4 was to increase the V/M numbers of the phagocites to ‘7’. Other alternatives would have been to increase the number of white blood cells or decrease the number of Hit points for the sub.
I used a plastic toy submarine, the white blood cells were polystyrene packing chips and the organs/eddys were coins. Worked fine.
I’m thinking (no promises mind) about an Instant Thunder variant to allow undersea combat based on the Gerry Anderson TV programme ‘Stingray’!
Watch this space!
