The TempleCon 2010 multi-genre gaming convention is coming to the Crowne Hotel in Warwick on the weekend of February 5th-7th, 2010. Now in its fifth year and featuring a retro-futurist theme, TempleCon is an annual event that hosts a variety of casual and competitive games in a luxurious social setting, including board games, role-playing games, video games, collectible card games, and table-top miniatures war-games, and retro-futurist-themed live performances plus a wide variety of other events.
TempleCon 2010 features the finest in modern gaming, including the Privateer Press WARMACHINE, HORDES, and Monsterpocalypse miniatures Championship Tournaments and a full weekend of Privateer Press events with exclusive Privateer Press prize support; multiple Warhammer 40K miniatures tournaments, a Blood Bowl miniatures tournament, and a Warhammer Fantasy tournament; a Flames of War miniatures Northeast Regional Qualifier tournament; a Heavy Gear miniatures tournament sponsored by DreamPod 9; a Malifaux miniatures tournament sponsored by The WARSTORE; multiple Axis and Allies miniatures events; multiple sessions of VOR: The Maelstrom, Revived!! and From Beyond Earth; plus a Space Hulk tournament, with myriad other hobby gaming events as well.
TempleCon 2010 will also feature artwork, literature, and appearances by artist Kelley Hensing, artist and pupeteer Rick Sardinha, artist Robert Tritthardt, artist and filmmaker George Higham, author CJ Henderson, who will be premiering the first book in his latest urban fantasy series “Brooklyn Knight” at TempleCon 2010, and best-selling author Leanna Renee Hieber. Additional appearances will be made by Steampunk writer G.D. Falksen, Steampunk performance artists The Penny Dreadfuls, writer and mentalist Rory Raven, The D6 Generation podcasters, and The Brilliant Gameologists podcasters. A variety of vendors will be selling games and related items, costumes, jewelry, and other handcrafted items in TempleCon’s Clockwork Bazaar and expo space.
Gaming Industry Guests of Honor at the convention include Writer Guest of Honor Jason Soles, co-creator of the Unhallowed Metropolis role-playing game and Lead Developer at Privateer Press; David “DC” Carl, Playtest Coordinator for Privateer Press; Jack Coleman, Press Gang Quartermaster at Privateer Press; Writer Guest of Honor Nicole Vega, co-creator of Unhallowed Metropolis; Simon Berman, a contributing author to Unhallowed Metropolis and a Staff Writer at Privateer Press, who will be premiering the hardcover edition of his “Up the River” Unhallowed Metropolis campaign book at TempleCon 2010; and Robert Dubois, President of Dream Pod 9.
TempleCon 2010 also features retro-futurist themed performances by belly dancer, burlesque dancer, and fusion performer Ameena; belly dancer and performance artist Samara; gothic belly dancer Paloma; retro-futurist belly dancer Tempest; the Happy Hour Burlesque troupe; belly dancer Neylan; tribal belly dancers Troupe Moirae; and fusion belly dancer Ela Rogers. In addition, this event features a live music event called “Diesel, Deco, and Dance” on Friday night featuring performances by the steampunk/dark cabaret band The Dirge Carolers and rockabilly band Sasquatch and the Sick-a-billys as well as DJ Delicti and DJ Atterlothe spinning their signature Retro-Futurist mixes, a miniatures painting contest, and more, in an uncommonly high-class venue for the ultimate convention experience. Also expect more independent game developers, panels, classes, vendors, demos, parties, and all sorts of other debauchery, and you’ll know why people everywhere are saying that TempleCon is taking the classic geek culture stereotype and knocking it on its ear. Pre-register for TempleCon 2010 before January 15th and save! Pre-registration is $10 per day for Friday only or Sunday only, $20 per day for Saturday only, and $35 for the weekend, and our group rate and military/student rates save you even more! On-site registration at the convention is $15 per day for Friday or Sunday only, $25 per day for Saturday only, and $50 for the weekend, with a military/student rate of $45 for the weekend.
