Well I half-promised (threatened) this!

Futuristic underwater action based on the 1960’s puppet show!

A mention of thanks for Codexier, who inspired me to get off my backside and do this by posting his Robotech variant.

A word of warning - I have not playtested this at all so if you find any glitches or imbalance please let me know!

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN THE NEXT HALF-HOUR!

A most interesting addition to the Instant Thunder line. The emulated show predates me by a good 20 years, but then again, so do a lot of good things.

You may have just inspired me to make yet another variant. I’ve been trying to write a WWII submarine based game for a while now. Re-stating the elements like this has been a god-send. The HS lock sequence based on relative maneuvers works perfectly for emulating submarines using trigonometry and a TDC while Radar locks are good for sonar. The gun guessing game seems right for depth-charges and surface attacks.

This might also be a chance to use the circular plot game board I’ve been thinking of. Rather than 4 rows of 13, try 13 concentric circles divided into quadrants - like a radar/sonar plot screen.

OUCH - I realised I credited someone else for your Robotech variant. Apologies!

Interested in your WWII ideas. Funnily enough I had an idea for a solo WWII game where the player commanded an MTB which was situated at the centre of a concentric grid. Other than changing facing the MTB did not move but the enemy threats moved around the grid relative to it.

I never got round to it but it still lurks at the back of my mind.

Let us have a heads up if your idea comes to fruition won’t you.
